Projection mapping is a phenomenon explored around the globe. Many more countries explore this new technology trying to integrate it into art and exhibitions. In different parts of the world projection mapping competition are organized in order to determine the best visual artists.
In a world of evolution and technological advancement, does this counts as technology or art?
Many social and technical studies talked about projection mapping as a fun way of interacting with walls. In reality, this concept can have multiple practical applications. In this post, we will discuss the applicability of projecting light.

Tabletop mapping
Projecting maps, plans, or even presentations on any flat surface is amazing for exhibitions and product showcasing. Clients being able to see and experience a product in real life is a massive advantage for selling that specific product. Using projection mapping in a showcase can have a major impact on the product itself. This technique is commonly used by big brands such as Nike, Rolex, and Audi.

Facial Projection Mapping
A new revolution for makeup is around the corner. More and more artists developed their skills in Facial Mapping. A new concept of Makeup is getting more popular on social media. Clients are choosing to see their makeups before actually wearing them. This technology is new but it has its unique ways of evolving. Makeup artists can save up to 4 hours of work by showing their clients the final result before even starting to work. This technology is pushed further by AR and its capabilities, but projection mapping can deliver the same results independent of a device.

Informational Mapping
A technique commonly used in museums and theaters in the last time is the display of informational messages in exhibitions. The high traffic venues chose projection mapping for displaying their messages for multiple reasons. Safety is important and most of the time signs can be in the customer's way. Some examples can be observed at the brands around us. Ikea is projecting arrows on their floors to guide customers through their showroom. Liverpool museum has the majority of the informational panels projected in order to fit messages on any surfaces and shapes.
Finally, Projection Mapping got multiple uses in our daily lives. However, the most immersive experience is the Architectural Mapping as you can see it in most major cities of the world.
We can only wait for more artists to adopt this technique and to create amazing art with it.
